A few details from Jobscan’s pricing FAQ and cancellation policy are worth knowing before you sign up:

  • The 7-day free trial applies to the quarterly plan only; cancel before it ends and you are not charged. A pre-authorization charge at sign-up checks your card and is refunded.
  • On the quarterly plan, the LinkedIn Optimizer and the 20% discounts are marked “after trial.” If you opt out of the trial to get full LinkedIn Optimization straight away, there is no trial period.
  • You can cancel at any time and keep paid features until the period ends. Cancelling does not issue refunds automatically: the policy limits refunds to Premium members who dispute a charge within 2 calendar days of a billing period starting and have not used the service in it, less a 3.5% fee.
  • When a paid subscription expires, you lose access to paid features and the data tied to them, so download any optimized resumes you want to keep first.
  • Jobscan adds state and local sales tax based on your billing address.

What a job search costs on each

  • One focused week: nothing during Leepo’s 7-day free trial, or $6.99 on its weekly plan. On Jobscan, the quarterly plan’s 7-day trial can cost nothing if you cancel in time, though some tools unlock only after the trial.
  • Three months: $45 on Leepo; $89.95 on Jobscan, billed after the trial.
  • Six months: $90 on Leepo (two quarters); $179.90 on Jobscan (two quarters).

The honest caveat: Jobscan Premium lists unlimited scans and AI optimizations, while Leepo Pro includes 300 credits a month, under fair use.

What Jobscan does

The resume scanner and match rate

Jobscan’s core tool compares your resume with one job description. According to its resume scanner page, the match rate draws on hard skills, soft skills, job title, other keywords and education level (when the posting asks for an advanced degree), across more than 30 checks. The report also covers formatting (columns, tables, headers and footers, fonts), section headings, file type and recruiter tips such as measurable results and word count. Its ATS Tip feature can often detect which system an employer uses, such as Greenhouse, Taleo or Workday, from the company name and job link, then adjusts its formatting advice.

Jobscan names 75 or higher as its target score. To its credit, the same page says an employer’s ATS does not score your resume, and that the match rate is a way to measure your resume before you apply. Our guide to what a good ATS score is explains why different tools give the same resume different numbers.

AI Optimize

On Jobscan’s AI Optimize page, you accept or reject AI suggestions tied to the job’s required skills with a click and watch the match rate update as you go. Jobscan says it keeps your original content and layout, offers DOCX export, and can write three bullet point options for any keyword you click.

Tracking, LinkedIn, applying and interviews

  • Job tracker. The job tracker page describes boards from Applied to Interviewed, with interview schedules, contact details, notes and tasks. Its Chrome extension saves jobs from Indeed, LinkedIn and Glassdoor.
  • LinkedIn optimization. According to the LinkedIn optimization page, you paste your profile URL and at least three job descriptions to get a profile score, keyword suggestions and generated headlines and summaries.
  • Auto Apply. The Auto Apply page says it finds matching jobs from Greenhouse, Lever, Workable and more than 20 other ATS platforms, drafts tailored answers from your resume, and submits nothing without your approval. It runs on credits.
  • AI Interview Practice. Jobscan’s interview practice runs a mock interview tailored to your target job and gives feedback on pace, filler words, pauses and tone. Jobscan says it is an optional add-on, not part of a standard subscription; Premium gets 20% off.

What Leepo does

In Leepo, you paste any job link, from LinkedIn, a company careers page and more, and Leepo imports the role, the company and, when the posting lists it, the salary. From there:

  • ATS fit score: compare your resume with that job and see matched and missing keywords.
  • AI resume tailoring: a tailored resume for each application, from your own experience. You accept the suggestions you want and switch between templates.
  • Career Vault: save projects, achievements and notes, with GitHub and LinkedIn import, so tailoring draws on your real experience.
  • Tracker: list and Kanban views with stages such as applied, interviewing and offer, plus quiet-application nudges and follow-up reminders.
  • Contacts and outreach: find recruiters or hiring managers, save them to an application, and draft referral asks, intros and follow-ups that open in Gmail for you to send.
  • Optional Gmail sync: read-only; recruiter emails about tracked applications update their status.
  • Leepo Companion: a Chrome extension that fills employer forms from your saved answers and attaches your resume. You review and press Submit, and sensitive questions such as gender, veteran status, disability and salary always pause for you.
  • Cover letters and interview prep.

Where Leepo is stronger

  • Price. Leepo Pro costs less than half of Jobscan Premium on the monthly plan and about half on the quarterly plan, and there is a weekly option for a short, focused search.
  • Tailoring from your whole record. Both tools let you accept or reject suggestions one at a time. Leepo’s difference is the source: tailoring draws on your Career Vault, so a project or result that never made it onto your resume can surface for the job it fits.
  • What happens after you apply. Leepo flags applications that have gone quiet and reminds you when a follow-up is due, and optional Gmail sync keeps statuses current.
  • Reaching a person. Jobscan’s tracker stores contact details. Leepo helps you find the recruiter or hiring manager and drafts the message, which opens in Gmail for you to send.
  • Filling the employer’s own form. Both tools keep you in control. Jobscan’s Auto Apply finds jobs on ATS platforms and waits for your approval, at one credit per job. Leepo Companion fills the employer forms you are applying through and attaches your resume, and sensitive questions always pause for you.

When Jobscan might suit you

  • Depth of the resume check. More than 30 checks plus ATS detection. If your main worry is whether a resume will be read correctly, this is Jobscan’s home ground.
  • Unlimited scanning on Premium. No credits to count for scans or AI optimizations.
  • LinkedIn profile optimization. Leepo imports from LinkedIn into your Career Vault but does not score your profile.
  • Job matching and interview practice. Premium includes AI Job Match, and the optional Interview Practice add-on gives feedback on how you sound as well as suggested answers.
  • An established tool. Jobscan’s pricing page says more than 1,000,000 job seekers rely on it, and it has a separate sign-up for organizations.

Is there a free Jobscan alternative?

Three free routes are worth knowing. Jobscan’s own free plan gives you 5 scans a month for your most important applications. Leepo’s free plan covers unlimited applications and resumes and 3 credits a month, so you can try it on real jobs before paying. Or run a basic keyword match yourself, at no cost. (In the UK, Ireland and New Zealand, where a résumé is called a CV, it works the same way with your CV.)

  1. Copy the job posting into a document and highlight every skill, tool, certification and job title in it.
  2. Mark which ones the posting treats as required and which are “nice to have.”
  3. Search your resume for each required term, including its acronym and full form.
  4. For every required term you genuinely have but don’t mention, add it where you used it, in a bullet with a result.
  5. Leave out anything you haven’t done. A higher number is not worth an interview question you can’t answer.

If you’d rather have an AI chat assistant do the sorting, paste the posting and your resume with a prompt like the one below. Our guide to tailoring your resume with ChatGPT covers how to check the output.

Here is a job posting and my resume. List the required skills, tools and qualifications in the posting. For each one, tell me whether my resume covers it, quoting the line if it does. Then list the ones it misses. Do not rewrite my resume and do not suggest adding anything I have not done.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Jobscan if…

  • Your biggest question is whether an ATS will read your resume, and you want formatting checks and ATS detection.
  • You will scan and optimize many resumes a week and want no credits to count.
  • You want to optimize your LinkedIn profile alongside your resume.
  • You want AI mock interviews with feedback on how you sound, as a paid add-on.

Choose Leepo if…

  • You want scoring, tailoring and tracking in one place, from $6.99 for a single week.
  • You want each tailored resume drawn from a saved record of your real projects and results.
  • You want nudges when an application goes quiet and reminders to follow up.
  • Your search runs on referrals, and you want help finding the right person and drafting the message.
  • You want autofill that always stops on sensitive questions and leaves Submit to you.

Some people use both: Jobscan’s free scans for a formatting check on the applications that matter most, and Leepo for tailoring, tracking and follow-ups. To try Leepo, sign up at leepo.ai and paste your first job link.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Jobscan cost?

As of September 2026, Jobscan’s pricing page lists a free plan with 5 resume scans a month and a Premium plan at $49.95 a month billed monthly, or $89.95 every 3 months (shown as $29.98 a month). Is there a free Jobscan alternative?

Jobscan itself has a free plan with 5 resume scans a month, a job tracker and a resume builder. Leepo’s free plan covers unlimited applications and resumes and 3 credits a month, with an ATS fit score that shows matched and missing keywords for a job. You can also run a basic keyword match by hand for free by listing the posting’s must-have terms and checking which ones your resume already covers.

What match rate does Jobscan recommend?

Jobscan’s resume scanner page names a score of 75 or higher as the target, as of September 2026. The same page notes that an employer’s ATS does not score your resume and describes the match rate as a tool to help you measure your resume before you apply. Treat it as a guide for one job, not a pass mark.

Jobscan vs Leepo: which is better?

Jobscan is the better choice if you want a more detailed resume scan, with formatting checks and ATS detection, plus LinkedIn profile optimization and unlimited scans on Premium. Leepo is the better choice if you want scoring, tailoring, application tracking, follow-up nudges and outreach in one place for $19 a month, or $6.99 for a single week.

Can I cancel Jobscan at any time?

Yes. Jobscan says you can cancel directly in your account or through its support team, and you keep paid features until the end of the period you paid for. If you cancel a quarterly trial before it ends, you are not charged for the plan. Jobscan’s cancellation policy says cancelling does not issue refunds automatically and limits refunds to charges disputed within 2 calendar days of a billing period starting, before you use the service, less a 3.5% fee.
