What the check shows
Résumé fit
A percentage for this one job. Out of 100, skills count for 60, experience for 25 and the kind of role for 15. When the job asks for a degree, education counts too and takes its share from the others. A part the job doesn’t mention is left out, and the rest share its weight.
Under the number, the job’s skills are listed in groups: tools and technologies, practices and general words, and nice to have. Each is marked as on your résumé, partly on it or not on it, and a line counts how many your résumé shows. The work the role is built on is listed too, where your résumé shows it. Soft skills aren’t counted.
Can you apply?
A separate answer, in one of four words: You can apply, Check, A stretch or Not open to you. It’s decided by where the job hires, the work permit, the years of experience and the degree. Skills never decide it. When the posting says nothing to decide by, it says it couldn’t tell.
Before you sign in, the check has only your résumé. Where you can work comes from you, not your résumé, so it comes back as a question, never as Not open to you. You tell us after you sign in.
What this job asks
As soon as the job is read, before you upload anything, you see what it asks beyond skills: experience, education, level, where it’s based or hires, and the work permit. Where the posting doesn’t say, you see Not stated.
How the number is worked out
AI reads the job posting for its skills and what it asks. It also copies a few facts from your résumé: where you live, your roles and their dates, and your degrees.
The number itself is counted in code, from the job’s terms and the words on your résumé. No AI model picks it. When you save the check, your application keeps the same number.
What it doesn’t check
- Layout, fonts and design. They aren’t graded.
- An employer’s own system. Résumé fit isn’t a score from their ATS, and it isn’t a prediction of whether you’ll be hired.
- Word files. It reads PDFs of 5 MB or less. A PDF with no text to read, such as a scan, gets a message saying so.
- More than one job at a time. Each check is against one job.
After the check
Save the check with Google. The job and your résumé go into a free Leepo account as an application, ready to tailor. A new account goes through setup first.
From there, Tailor suggests changes to your résumé for that job, from your own work. How the AI resume tailor works
Running the check uses no credits. Free includes 3 AI credits a month, and a tailored résumé uses 1 credit. Pro’s free trial lasts 7 days and covers 5 tailored applications. See plans and prices

Frequently asked questions
Is the ATS resume checker free?
Yes. You don’t need an account, and running it uses no credits. From one connection, you can run 3 résumé checks and 5 job reads in 10 minutes. After that, it asks you to wait 10 minutes.
Do I need a job description?
Yes. The check is against one job. Paste the job link or the description. If a LinkedIn link needs a login, paste the description instead.
What is Résumé fit?
A percentage of how well your résumé matches this one job. Out of 100, skills count for 60, experience for 25 and the kind of role for 15. When the job asks for a degree, education counts too. A part the job doesn’t mention is left out, and the rest share its weight.
Is this the score an employer’s ATS gives me?
No. Résumé fit is Leepo’s own measure of your résumé against the job. It isn’t a number from an employer’s system, and it isn’t a prediction of whether you’ll be hired.

My Résumé fit is high, so why does “Can you apply?” say Check or A stretch?
They answer different questions. Résumé fit measures how well your résumé matches the job. “Can you apply?” looks only at where the job hires, the work permit, the years and the degree. Where you can work never counts in the number, and being short of the years also shows as a warning beside it.
Can I upload a Word file?
No, only a PDF of 5 MB or less. Save your Word file as a PDF first. A scanned PDF won’t work, because it has no text to read.
What happens to my résumé if I don’t sign in?
You have 30 minutes to save it. If you don’t, the file and the check are deleted in the next daily cleanup, within about a day.
Should I add every missing skill?
Only the ones you have really used. If you did the work but your résumé says it in other words, put the job’s word on the line about that work.
